French hand painted religious figurine.

Real leather boots only £14.

We also have a ridiculously brilliant collection of vintage Christmas jumpers which will be in stock later this month.

Needs a new home...

We currently have a rather sorry looking collection of vintage toys in stock. All have had lots of hugs and kisses over the years which explains their many bald patches!
It's time they found new homes, could you adopt one?
How could you say no? Look at that face.....

Thursday 9 July 2015

Adorable!

This adorable little fella has been in residence for less than a week and has created a bit of a reaction, with a list of people queuing up to re home him.
He is an alarm clock which clip - clops and neighs when he goes off, amazing.
He now has gone to his new home with the lovely Sue who I know will truly appreciate his charm.

Thursday 4 June 2015

Do I know you?.....

This charming old egg cup found its way in to the shop this week and it seems strangely familiar.....

Has anyone any ideas where I may have seen one before?
Any further information about it would be interesting, thanks.

Getting that festival feeling.....

Not long to go now until the biggest festival in Europe is happening on our very doorstep, yep Glastonbury is nearly upon us!
Now is the time for getting festival ready.
Top two essentials, Somewhere to sit and somewhere to sleep, in style of course.

The prints on these original 1970's sleeping bags and deck chair are perfect for a happy festival vibe.
At £10 each they are a bargain too.....

This week we have created a crafty little corner dedicated to sewing.

Vintage Somerset retro and vintage fair....

Saturday saw Wells town hall filled with all things vintage from some of the best vintage sellers in Somerset.
The Vintage Hideaway was (of course) selling at this very well attended event.

We had a good mix of clothing and collectables. One of my personal favourites are the wonderful artwork images of the 1920s sheet music we had professionally mounted in original period frames.

We were also selling a good range of sewing items including sets of vintage buttons on vintage bingo cards, genius!

more fair teasers....

Two days to go....
Vintage Somerset retro and vintage fair Saturday 16th May Wells town hall.
As if you needed any more incentive to come here are some more examples of what we will be selling....

sewing 'n' stuff....

The demand for vintage sewing bits and bobs is on the increase which is really good, as a vintage clothing seller I see a lot of vintage homemade clothing and have for a while now felt sad that it seemed to be becoming a dying craft.
The recent demand for sewing accessories will hopefully secure vintage homemade clothing for the future!

This decopaged box is crammed full with all sorts of sewing accessories and will be avaliable to buy at the vintage fair being hosted by Vintage Somerset 16th May in Wells town hall.

summer holidays, yay!

Vintage luggage is a lot more attractive that modern suitcases.
The great thing about a vintage case is that when you are not trotting around the globe it can be used as storage at home, piled up they look really good.
When you do take the case on your holibobs, you have room to take everything you could possibly need as vintage cases tend to be on the capacious side!

The little case is by Boots and is a perfect size for laptops.
The red case is 1960's by Antler with keys and beautiful silky frilly lining.
The blue case is by Revelation and has expanding buckles for extra room.

The Nineties are back....

Nineties fashion is back and on trend. Can hardly believe it and I am showing my age when I say I remember it the first time round. However I loved the nineties, Brit pop, grunge, brilliant!
As a nod to it recently being accepted as vintage we have in stock some excellent examples of nineties fashion, check out these bad boys....

Thursday 7 May 2015

H. Bauer...

These glass tiles by H. Bauer are beautifully reverse painted and feature real butterflies.
So nice I am tempted to take them home....

Thank you...

I am really touched by the generosity of a gift left for me by a mystery customer.
I would have liked to have been in the shop at the time to thank you personally, so I would like to take the opportunity now.
Thank you, truly. X

Thursday 30 April 2015

more favourite things....

Recently I have really been falling for the charm of Kewpie dolls.
The two standing were birthday presents, but the two sitting I found this week, a bit worse for wear, but still brilliant.

Is it just me or does the standing boy seem to be advising the standing girl to keep back from the new wailing pair?

my favourite finds....

It's not often I take home the treasures I find. I usually take great delight in letting you see them, love them, take them home! But some things I fall so in love with that they go home with me, even if it's just for a while...

These 1950's/60's head vases really made me smile. I particularly like the original pearl necklace and earrings still attached to the larger one. X

Saturday 25 April 2015

vintage linens...

Hand embroidered linen has a beauty and charm which can grace even the simplest of tables.

My personal favourite is the one with the little chicks, adorable! x

vintage sunnies....

You have been asking for vintage sunglasses and we now have many styles available in stock.

At only £4 a pair they are selling quick, get them while you can!

summer stock...

Lovely sunny days have arrived along with lovely summer clothing.

Check out these beauties! X

Something old...

Beautiful beaded and embroidered small bags perfect for a brides " something old ", some dating back to the 1920's.

A very British thing....

Nothing more British than a lovely cup of tea from a lovely china teapot, cup and saucer.

This special cup and saucer is dedicated to Annie Gough and dated 1892, beautiful. X

On Saturday 28th February The Vintage Hideaway was lucky enough to be part of the first fair with 'Vintage Somerset' - a vintage community based in Somerset that brings buyers and sellers together through online resources and local fairs.

It was a fantastic event! Really well attended, full of welcoming and supportive stallholders and a fun atmosphere!
